Hello there! Have you ever heard about retention and acceleration? If not don’t you worry because today we are going to tell you what it is. So put on your thinking hat and prepare to get better grades.

Retention sounds like a scary word and it is. Kindergartners who have spent a whole year in kindergarten may not be retained if the parent doesn’t want them to be. Good for the Kindergarteners! But it’s a whole different story for the middle schoolers. Did you know the maximum age for a middle schooler is 16? This is a very scary fact. Did you know that sometimes you can be held back on stage for graduation?

Parents can argue about retention but they almost never win. Did you know that you could get retained because of a BOOK FINE!?!?! A book fine means you never gave back the BOOK from the school library. Another example would be that you lost it and a solution to that would be that you pay it back. Some things that schools do is that instead of giving you the diploma they give you a bill of how many books you owe. Another way you could get retained is that if you fail all of your classes.

Now let’s talk about acceleration, and if you don’t know what it means, we will tell you. Acceleration means that you skipped  grades. We were watching a video on Youtube and found a kid who accelerated all the way to college. His name was Santiago Gonzalez. If you would like to watch the video you could type in “14 year old prodigy programmer dreams in code.”
