Do you like rap?? Well if you do then you probably know O’Shea Jackson Sr. also known as ” Ice Cube “. He is a professional rapper and a movie actor. He began his career as a member of the hip-hop group C.I.A (Cru’ in Action !!) but then later joined the rap group N.W.A (Ni***z with Attitude). He then left the N.W.A in December of 1989. He then began his solo career which ended up very well with many songs he wrote. Such as;  Boyz n the hood (1991), and Friday (1995). Many of Ice Cube’s songs include very harsh socio-political commentary. He was also ranked 8 on MTV’s list of the top 10 greatest MC’s of all time.

Ice Cube attended William Howard Taft High school in Woodland Hills, California. At the age of 16, Ice Cube sold his first song to the N.W.A member; Eazy E. He also attended the Phoenix Institute of Technology in the Fall of 1987. He had a very big passion for architecture. He completed his diploma in about 1 year, and later returned to L.A to begin his rapping career. He also said that if rapping never worked out for him, he would return to being a architect draftsman. With help of his friend, Sir Kinx, he formed the C.I.A, and would preform at parties hosted by Dr. Dre. Ice Cube would also rap at the Eve After Dark club while Dr. Dre would be DJing. He would often parody other peoples song just for the fun of it. Although, not everyone thought this was funny, club-owner Alonzo Williams said that if he kept on doing this, it could totally ruin his reputation as a rapper.

Ice Cube officially joined the N.W.A in 1986, after showing Eazy E the lyrics to Boyz n the hood. At first, he had rejected Ice Cube but later recorded the song with the N.W.A. Ice Cube was the only N.W.A. member to not be from Compton, which is where the group was formed. Ice Cube wrote the rhymes for Dr. Dre and Eazy E for the album “Straight Outta Compton”. Ice Cube wrote the lyrics for at least half of both Straight Outta Compton album. He also wrote the lyrics for Eazy E’s solo album, Eazy Duz It, Yet, he was only paid $32,000, and he was not officially confirmed a N.W.A member. This led Ice Cube to officially leave the N.W.A and bring a private lawsuit on Jerry Heller (N.W.A’s group manager). After that he began his solo career, we’ll see how that went for him.

A few months after he left N.W.A, he came out with his debut solo album, AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted. This album came out on May 16, 1990, and instantly became a huge hit. The album was charged with controversy, and he was accused of misogyny and racism. Mysogyny is when you ingrain prejudice against women. After this, Ice Cube pointed out the female rapper “Yo-Yo” and helped her make her debut album; Make Way For The Motherlode. He released his second album, Death Certificate, released in 1991. He went on and on making albums until he made his 9th album called; I Am the West, on September 28, 2010.

As I mentioned earlier, he is also a movie actor. He has acted in many good movies. For example, he appeared as “Doughboy” in the 1991 movie, Boyz n the Hood. He is a very good actor but always seems to be in a bad mood, or very angry in all of his movies…. well at least the ones I’ve watched. He appeared in the xxx:State of the UnionBarbershop, Are we there yet??, Are we done yet???, Fist fight. This is a grid of what movies he has made, what role he has played in those movies, and what year these movies came out.

In conclusion, if I were to be a rapper, it would probably be Ice Cube, or Tupac. Although he grew up in a rough neighborhood, he managed to find his way up to glory. He became one of the most well known rappers all around the world. In my opinion, Ice Cube might as well be the BEST rapper in the world.
