President of Navajo Nation ripped Trump for saying Senator Elizabeth Warren as “Pocahontas” During a ceremony honoring Native American war heroes. Warren said “It’s sad that her name has become a joke that Trump and others use because her real life was so difficult and frightening and she had to make decisions so much rougher than any of us had to face.” This moment was on T.V. and everything seemed so awkward between Trump and the Native American war heroes. The exact words of trump were: “You were here long before any of us were here, although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.” On numerous time Trump has mocked Warren on her claim of being of Cherokee ancestry. Warren also said “The president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur”.

Most of you have heard of Pocahontas in a Disney film. The Disney version of Pocahontas is not the real story and her name wasn’t even Pocahontas. In the Disney version she seems like a young adult who meets an English settler John Smith they fall in love and then her father takes him hostage to try and kill him and Pocahontas came to save him. This story is inaccurate because Pocahontas was around the age of 12 when she meet Smith, also she was just a translator and Smith would teach her English while she thought him Algonquian. The story about him being saved by her before her father killed him, this story is also said to be inaccurate because Smith would apparently make stories of half naked women saving him.
